Candidates for 2021-2023 Term

  • Sarah Hartzel (Seat 1, Treasurer) - “I'm interested in running for the Board Treasurer position. I've lived in Montavilla for 4 years and love the neighborhood. I'm excited about the idea of using my finance and accounting background to assist the association in its goals to serve and continuously improve the livability of the neighborhood.”

  • Matt Moore (Seat 3, Outreach & Communications Chair) - “It has been an honor to serve the Montavilla Neighborhood Association as the visual communication lead. I care a lot about Montavilla and I try to create graphic design with everyone in mind. It is my hope that my work helps bring people together and inspires participation and stewardship in Montavilla.”

  • Ben Weakley (Seat 5) - “My name is J. Ben Weakley and I am interested in running for a seat. My significant other and I moved here last year and I am excited to look for ways to serve my community. I am a physical therapist in the area and hope to find another way to serve my community.”

  • Scott Simpson (Seat 7, Land Use & Transportation Chair) - “I have been a resident of Montavilla for 8 years and I hope to give back to this vibrant community that my wife and I love and call home. As chair for land use and transportation I will work hard to help make Montavilla a more walkable, bikeable, sustainable, safer and inclusive place for all members of our community. Prior to our time here in Portland, my wife and I lived for four years in Vancouver Canada. Our time there left an impression on me how land use and transportation strategies can help neighborhoods and cities evolve to become more livable, equitable and sustainable places to live. I am lucky to live in a community so rich in culture, diversity and character and I would be honored to be to serve on the seat for Land Use and Transportation to help in the sustainable evolution of this great neighborhood. Thank you.”

  • Holly Wilkes (Seat 9) - “My name is Holly Wilkes, I grew up in Portland right around the corner in Lents. (Went to lent elementary, Lane, and Marshall high when it was around) I have a Master of Education (MEd) and am a Principal in David Douglas School District. I live in Montavilla, love my community, and want to support in any way I can.”
